Are you a highly experienced family law paralegal interested in a full-time, permanent job opportunity in San Diego? You will be responsible for drafting, formatting, and proofreading legal documents and correspondence, including disclosure packets, deposition notices, subpoenas, trial binders, and more; conducting client intake interviews; client and attorney communications; case and deadline management, including maintaining case documentation and scheduling; developing/ responding/ objecting to written discovery; scheduling depositions, appointments, hearings, and court appearances; managing the calendar using ProLaw; filing matters and documents with state and federal courts; trial prep and attending trial; calendaring; answering phones; and other tasks as assigned.

Responsibilities:

  • Preparing standard judicial council forms as well as other legal documents, such as notices, declarations, disclosures, memorandums of points and authorities, subpoenas, trial binders, and more
  • Handling filings, both in state and federal courts
  • Maintaining an updated calendar and scheduling for the attorney
  • Communication with clients, attorneys, and others, and duties common to such a role in a family law firm

  • Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of family law paralegal experience
  • Be comfortable with keeping billable hour requirements
  • BA/BS and ABA-certified Paralegal Certificate are preferred (but not required)
  • Strong computer proficiency, especially with MS Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • A thorough understanding of county/state court rules, calendaring, and legal document formatting guidelines
  • Solid organizational and multi-tasking skills with high attention to detail
  • Great communication and interpersonal skills with a helpful, no-job-too-small mindset
