Special Counsel is currently seeking a highly motivated legal assistant to support a dynamic team in Portland, OR.


The ideal candidate has a minimum of three years experience in commercial litigation and thrives in a fast paced work environment. Candidates selected for this role will have the opportunity to work with a fun and engaging team and could have the opportunity to become a litigation paralegal if desired.

Responsibilities:

  • Communicate frequently with the court, efile, print envelopes and mail letters
  • Attend meetings and court proceedings and capture detailed notes for lawyers in attendance
  • Transcribe, proofread, and file legal documents before deadlines in addition to organizing and managing documentation system
  • Mail, fax, or email court documents to clients, witnesses, or court officials
  • Schedule meetings and court dispositions, manage changes to a schedule, and keep the lawyer informed of the day’s activities
  • Qualifications/Requirements:

  • 3 years experience in civil litigation
  • Skills:

  • Strong understanding of legal terminology and processes
  • Superb written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to communicate and coordinates schedules and activities to attorneys, other legal staff and clients alike
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and manage competing tasks with competing deadlines
  • Employment Type:

  • Full-time
  • Direct Hire
  • Work Hours:

  • Mon-Fri, 8am-5pm (with flexibility)
  • In-office / remote hybrid
