Position: Medical Payment Poster
Position Overview: As a Medical Payment Poster, you will play a crucial role in ensuring accurate and timely processing of medical payments, insurance claims, and related financial transactions. You will work closely with our billing and finance teams to post payments, reconcile accounts, and contribute to the overall financial health of our organization.
Key Responsibilities:
Accurately post and reconcile medical payments from various sources, including insurance companies, patients, and third-party payers.
Identify and resolve discrepancies in payment amounts, coding, and billing information.
Collaborate with the billing team to verify the correct allocation of payments and adjustments.
Research and follow up on unpaid or underpaid claims, working to resolve outstanding balances.
Maintain a comprehensive understanding of medical coding, billing guidelines, and insurance processes.
Generate and analyze reports to track payment posting activities and identify trends or issues.
Stay updated on industry changes, compliance regulations, and best practices related to payment posting.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent (associate degree or higher in a related field preferred).
Prior experience in medical payment posting, medical billing, or revenue cycle management is highly desirable.
Proficiency in using medical billing software and electronic health record (EHR) systems.
Strong understanding of medical coding, CPT codes, ICD-10 codes, and insurance terminology.
Detail-oriented mindset with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills for collaborating with team members and insurance representatives.
Ability to manage time efficiently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and a commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality.
Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word) and relevant payment posting tools.
