KentLHH is partnering with a fantastic construction company based in Kent in search of their next Controller! As the Controller, you will play a critical role in managing the financial procedures, records, and statements to ensure compliance with laws and regulations. You will lead the financial team in maintaining accurate financial data, implementing controls, and making strategic financial decisions
Duties/Responsibilities:
Manage and monitor all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems to ensure compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements.
Maintain and reconcile fixed assets and capital leases schedules.
Review balance sheet reconciliations and major accounts.
Perform monthly recurring journal entries and accruals.
Monitor the company's financial reports and identify opportunities to reduce costs.
Prepare and file tax returns, including Sales, Use, and B&O taxes.
Assist in the preparation of company financial statements.
Develop, implement, and maintain financial controls and guidelines.
Set up and monitor accounting Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
Required Skills/Abilities:
Excellent management and supervisory skills.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
Proficiency in accounting software (SAMPro a plus)
Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in accounting
Construction industry experience is required.
Eight or more years of related experience is required.
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) designation is preferred but not required.
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
Able to travel as needed.
