Senior Underwriter (Salary Range: $70K-80K)

LHH Recruitment Solutions is in search of a Senior Underwriter to join our client in the insurance industry, located in Austin, TX. This role serves as a critical member in pricing and underwriting processes, collaborating closely with sales teams, actuaries, and insurance professionals.


In addition to possessing a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field like business, finance, economics, mathematics, or actuarial science, the ideal candidate should have 3 to 4 years of health underwriting experience, particularly with Midmarket and level funding. Familiarity with Excel/Google Sheets and a basic understanding of SQL queries are also essential. Responsibilities:



  • Liaison between Sales and Underwriting teams to manage and expedite a high volume of proposal deliveries.


  • Conduct final checks on proposals for both accuracy and suitability before they are sent to top management and Sales.


  • Oversee the development of new and renewal rate calculations for complex group cases by analyzing various factors such as industry background, geographical location, and group demographics.


  • Assist in refining underwriting guidelines and protocols in line with company expansion.


  • Formulate retrospective reports that compare expected versus actual costs for specific client groups.


  • Help with the contractual process and account setup for clients, ensuring compliance with quoted terms.


  • Coach junior members of the underwriting team.


  • Establish and maintain robust communication channels with both internal and external stakeholders.


Client Requirements:



  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, economics, mathematics, statistics, or actuarial science.


  • Minimum of 3 to 4 years in health underwriting, with a preference for candidates having Midmarket and level funding experience.


  • Proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets.


  • Basic knowledge of SQL queries is advantageous.


  • Experience in data analysis or data management within the insurance industry would be a plus.
