LHH is seeking a Cost Accountant for a contract position with our client in Addison, Texas.
Position Overview: The Cost Accountant will play a crucial role in accurately assessing and analyzing the costs associated with operations, products, and projects. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of accounting principles, a keen eye for data accuracy, and the ability to provide actionable insights that contribute to informed decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
Cost Analysis and Reporting:
Gather and analyze cost data, including materials, labor, and overhead, to determine accurate product costs.
Develop and maintain cost accounting models, ensuring alignment with industry best practices and company standards.
Generate regular cost reports and variance analysis, comparing actual costs to budgeted costs and identifying areas of improvement.
Inventory Management:
Monitor inventory levels and valuation to ensure accuracy and consistency between accounting records and physical inventory.
Conduct periodic reconciliations of inventory records to identify discrepancies and implement corrective measures.
Cost Control:
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify cost-saving opportunities and operational efficiencies.
Assist in the evaluation of cost structures and recommend strategies to optimize resource utilization while maintaining quality standards.
Product Costing:
Calculate and update standard costs for products, incorporating factors like raw materials, labor, and overhead expenses.
Participate in the assessment of new product lines and provide cost projections to support pricing decisions.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
Contribute to the annual budgeting process by providing accurate cost data and insights to support the development of financial plans.
Collaborate with finance teams to create accurate cost projections and forecasts for strategic planning.
Process Improvement:
Continuously review and enhance cost accounting processes, identifying opportunities for automation, and streamlined workflows.
Implement improvements to enhance the accuracy and efficiency of cost-related activities.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or CMA designation is a plus.
Proven experience as a Cost Accountant or in a related accounting role.
Strong proficiency in accounting software and MS Excel; experience with ERP systems is preferred.
Solid understanding of accounting principles and cost accounting methodologies.
Analytical mindset with exceptional attention to detail.
Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.
Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to addressing issues.
Knowledge of relevant industry regulations and compliance standards.
Work Hours: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM, 40 hours per week Employment Type: Contract/Temporary Estimated Hourly Rate: $29-33
