LHH is seeking a team player and patient-centric Patient Financial Counselor. The purpose of this role is pre-registration admit stage regarding account and assist them with a variety of resources internally and externally available to provide financial assistance to support the patient’s needs.

The Financial Counselor may assist in following after initial billing of claims until paid. Includes, but is not limited to, handling incoming insurance calls and correspondence from insurance, physician offices, etc.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Consults with patients at initial patient contact to determine account status and initiate engagement in the financial counseling process,
  • Assists patients with payment plans, explains payment options for extended payment arrangements with our outside vendor partners, and is responsible for resolution of accounts receivable within all Federal, State, and Local regulations.
  • Makes outgoing calls to the insurance company when needed to resolve an encounter. Familiar with insurance websites and other resources.
  • Resolves insurance credits by thoroughly reviewing all payments, adjustments, EOB’s, and notes related to the encounter.
  • Handles overflow patient calls when needed. Other duties as assigned.
  • Adheres to and/or maintains departmental policies and procedures, to be regulatory compliant with TJC, OSHA, safety standards, or other regulatory agencies.
  • Follows instructions and abides by organizational and departmental policies and procedures to help the department and organization consistently meet the goals established by management or the Board of Directors.
  • Respond promptly, accurately, and courteously to all written and phone inquiries received internally, from patients, attorneys, insurance companies, physician offices, etc. as applicable to the specific position.

  • Minimum Requirements:

  • High School or GED Minimum
  • 3+ years of Medical Billing, UB, CPT knowledge & collection preferred
  • 3 years of healthcare office experience required
  • Pay Details: $20.00 to $24.00 PER HOUR
