LHH is seeking an Accounts Payable Clerk for a contract position with our client in Addison, Texas.


Job Summary: The Accounts Payable Clerk plays a crucial role in the Finance Department by ensuring accurate and timely processing of vendor invoices and payments. This individual is responsible for maintaining strong vendor relationships, reconciling statements, and assisting with month-end close procedures. The Accounts Payable Clerk reports to the Accounts Payable Supervisor/Manager and collaborates with cross-functional teams to maintain the financial integrity of the organization.


Key Responsibilities:


  1. Invoice Processing: Receive, review, and process vendor invoices for accuracy, completeness, and proper authorization. Match invoices to purchase orders and receipts, ensuring consistency.


  2. Data Entry: Accurately enter invoice details into the accounting system while maintaining proper coding and classification for expenses.


  3. Vendor Relations: Communicate with vendors to address inquiries, resolve discrepancies, and ensure timely resolution of payment-related issues. Foster positive relationships to facilitate smooth payment processing.


  4. Payment Processing: Prepare and process payment runs, including checks, electronic transfers, and ACH payments. Verify that payments align with terms, discounts, and payment schedules.


  5. Expense Reconciliation: Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies by investigating and analyzing discrepancies between invoices, purchase orders, and receipts.


  6. Record Keeping: Maintain organized and accurate accounts payable records, including digital and physical documentation of invoices, payment confirmations, and related correspondence.


  7. Month-End Activities: Assist with month-end closing activities, including reconciliations, accruals, and generating reports for management review.


  8. Reporting: Generate various reports related to accounts payable activities, such as aging reports, payment forecasts, and expense analysis.


  9. Compliance: Ensure compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and relevant accounting standards in all accounts payable processes.


  10. Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to enhance accounts payable processes, increase efficiency, and reduce errors. Collaborate with the team to implement improvements.


Qualifications and Skills:



  • High school diploma or equivalent; some college coursework in accounting or finance preferred.


  • Proven experience as an accounts payable clerk or in a related role.


  • Familiarity with accounting software and ERP systems (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle).


  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and record-keeping.


  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.


  • Basic understanding of accounting principles and financial processes.


  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with integrity.


  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask effectively.


  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).


  • Problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to addressing issues.


  • Time management skills to meet deadlines and prioritize tasks.


Work Hours: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM, 40 hours per week Employment Type: Contract/Temporary Estimated Hourly Rate: $17-21
